A shear scraper inspired by my mentor, Richard Raffan. This is my first signature tool, and hopefully the first of many.

It's 25 mm wide and 6 mm thick (1 by 1/4 inch). The key features are rounded bottom edges and a simple curve profile with a 45° bevel.

Made by Crown Tools, Sheffield, from high quality M2 cryogenic steel with a clear-varnished ash handle.

* Refiner is scraper and as such YOU need to apply all safety protocol for using standard scrapers for save turning *

If you choose the factory edge, then you'll recieve a tool NOT ready for use, without a notch with a general shape close to but not exactly like mine.

It's a good option if you prefer some of your shapes and profiles.

The grinder burr option will give you tool just the way I use it, with a shape and little notch on the side for details.

The Grinder burr is ideal as it's not grabby, does a great job, but it is still a standard scraper and all rules apply in regard to using it for the best and safe results.

Grinder burr option- tool is ready to be used as soon it arrives at your lathe.

Pulled burr is an option that will give you shape and a notch, but instead of grinder burr, I'll pull burr with my burnisher for you. This will make the scraper ready to be used as soon as it arrives at your lathe. It's actually a pulled edge that is stronger than abraded and will give great results, but if you a never used standard scraper, then go for a grinder burr. A pulled burr with a burnisher can be grabby and requires light touch, it does produce a lovely finish, but it does require some experience with scrapers.
