All my signature tools are made by Crown Tools Sheffield and I'm super proud of these bowl gouges.
Crafted from M42 high-speed steel, these will give you a lifetime of good service and by their very nature ensure you spend more time at the lathe and less time at the sharpening station.
M42 is a premium, high-speed steel containing cobalt with supreme parabolic flute design for easier sharpening and blending curves on the edge.
Combine this with the already well known and proven advantages of cryogenically treated steel and, when it comes to woodturning tools, you have a tool that will hold an edge far longer, even on tough and abrasive timbers.
Usable flute length 200mm ,7 7/8 .
As name suggests comes straight from factory and its not sharp. Shape is similar to traditional grind but again you'll have to shape it and sharpened by yourself.
This grind is hard to replicate using jigs, but its good opportunity to try asymmetric grind and to try freehand sharpening and if you don't like it its easy to convert to any other grind.
By choosing asymmetric grind, you'll receive bowl gouge ready to be used straight out of the package just the way I use it. All prep work will also be done on my part , all you need is to use it and if there is a need, shorten the bevel length for tight curves.
